In addition to the nearly 3 million population of Chicago, the park also services the 500,000 population of the Quad Cities/Peoria area, providing an affordable summer home / camping option for the residents of these metropolitan areas.

Around the Area

Shady Lakes, in New Windsor, IL, is located 24 miles South of Davenport, IA and 30 miles east of the Mississippi River. The property is 6 miles west of Interstate 74 which runs 20 miles north to Davenport where it meets with Interstates 80 and 88. Because of this, Shady Lakes is a 3-hour drive or less from Chicago, Peoria, Springfield, Cedar Rapids and Des Moines. The property provides a secluded campground feel that is easily accessible to those in the Illinois / Iowa area.
